DFK International's 50th Anniversary Press Release
Delegates from every inhabited continent of the world joined the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of DFK International highlighting the global reach of the accountancy association.
Member firms from Africa, America, Asia, Australia and Europe, the continents symbolised in the five rings of the Olympic Games, converged in Paris for the largest conference in the history of DFK International.
The week-long celebrations culminated with a special gala dinner on the same night as the opening ceremony of London 2012.
The conference was attended by more than 200 delegates from 36 countries, with the furthest travelling from Vanuatu in the South West Pacific.
Three new firms from the Russian Federation, Belgium and Greece were also welcomed, with representatives attending from Korsakov & Partners in Moscow, VCLJ Bedrijfsrevisoren in Antwerp, and ACT Service/PD Audit in Athens.
Scott Hazy, President of DFK International, said: “With so many countries represented, the conference was a significant reminder of how far DFK International has come and the incredible global reach that we have.
“In the past 50 years, we have expanded into a thriving association with more than 200 member firms in over 80 countries generating in excess of one billion US dollars.
“We were delighted to welcome three new firms from the Russian Federation, Belgium and Greece which reinforces our position in those countries and enhances the services that we are able to offer there for our clients.
“Along with Russia, it was great to have delegates from so many emerging markets such as Brazil, India, China, Mexico and Turkey and for their experiences to be shared with all DFK members.
“One of the most valuable aspects of the conference was the opportunity to meet familiar friends, make new acquaintances and build business relationships which is a founding strength of DFK International.”
The Board of Directors, headed by Hazy, met during the conference to plan DFK International’s future strategy in continuing to respond to global challenges.
Several regional meetings took place including of the Francophone Group, Americas Development Committee and Executive Committee of Asia-Pacific, providing members with the valuable opportunity to have face-to-face discussions.
Delegates were given updates from the association’s international tax, accounting and assurance, IT, tax and marketing committees. The annual conference of DFK UK & Ireland also took place during the week.
As well as former presidents and other key figures from DFK’s history, special guests included Jean-Paul Vermes, 1st Vice-President of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who gave a talk on reindustrialisation in France.
Pierre Teillet, senior economist at the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies in France, also addressed the conference.
Other highlights included a workshop on strategic marketing for professional service firms by Stephen Blundell, of Kerma Partners, Europe, and a presentation on forecasts and predictions for the global society by Adjiedj Bakas, from Trend Office Bakas, Amsterdam.
The next annual conference of DFK International will be held in Tokyo, as the association returns to the Asia-Pacific region in 2013.
