HB&O utilises DFK membership to do business in Malaysia
A Coventry and Warwickshire-based accountancy firm has reached across the world to help a client setup a new arm of its engineering business.
ActOn Ventures, based on Torrington Avenue in Coventry, has set up the new subsidiary in Kulim, Malaysia.
The group provides solutions for mass finishing applications, in machinery and processing in sectors including aerospace, automotive and medical. It has also had joint venture operations in India for over five years.
Accountants and financial advisors Harrison Beale & Owen (HB&O) has acted for the group for 12 years and used a partner firm – Folks DFK – in Malaysia to undertake the international accountancy work.
HB&O and Folks are both part of DFK international, an association of independent accounting firms and business advisers which has 220 member firms in 85 countries.
Sid Gulati, the Managing Director of ActOn said: “We have been keen to establish in Malaysia so that we can exploit the South East Asian market as we see considerable potential for our operations.
“But that is never a straightforward process and it was key that we had financial knowledge of the local territory but also wanted to be sure we would get the level of service we enjoy with HB&O.
“The fact that they could refer us to a like-minded company with the same level of expertise meant we could move forward with total confidence.”
Phil Ewing, director at HB&O said “When you have developed a strong working relationship with a company it is really rewarding to see it expand internationally, which is just what ActOn are doing.
“It is fair to say that we would have struggled to assist them abroad without the help of DFK International because of its amazing reach.
“It can be very lonely and uncertain opening up abroad and DFK members provide the reassurance and local expertise needed.”
