New VP for EMEA Region

DFK International has seen a changing of the guards for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Anne Brady, senior partner of Anne Brady McQuillans DFK chartered accountants, based in Dublin, Ireland, has taken the reins as the new vice-president of the EMEA region.

She succeeds Johan Dens, of legal, tax and accountancy firm Juribel, based in Antwerp, Belgium, and will be looking to continue his work as well as focusing on key areas including the professional development of young people, technology, the new the new DFK  International Women in Leadership Executive Committee and recruitment.

Anne said: “I am delighted to be taking over as vice-president of the EMEA and would like to thank Johan for all of his work during his term.

“As well as continuing Johan’s work I will be focusing on a number of areas. I am a huge advocate of professional development and will be looking to ensure we continue to provide training opportunities for young people.

“We already host an annual EMEA Young Professionals Conference and also had our very first Future Leaders Summit which was held in Dubai in February. This was an excellent event attended by 18 young partners who were able to network and share their passion for the organisation.

“I will be looking to build on this during my term as well as continuing to offer a variety of professional development courses for young people as they look to progress in their careers.

“I am also passionate about women in business and achieving gender balance in the workplace and will be helping to develop the new DFK Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives Executive Committee (D&IEC) which I will champion.

“Technology is another huge interest of mine and I have sat on the technology committee of DFK for a number of years. I would like to see this move along in a number of areas, and will assist with this where possible.

“I am also excited to hear more about a new development which our executive director Martin Sharp is currently working on. The new digital network is similar to LinkedIn and will allow DFK member firms to connect with each other and share their news which should prove a valuable tool.

“Finally, I will be looking to focus on recruitment and staff retention during my term which is a problem across the sector worldwide. It has been reported that Millennials want to have around 15 to 20 jobs in their lifetime which means it can be difficult to both recruit and retain staff members.

“I will be exploring ways to address this trend including looking at our recent alliance with the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) to see if they can assist with this.”

Johan said “It has been my pleasure to lead the EMEA region over the last few years. I have immensely enjoyed strengthening the region and building closer professional and personal relationships with other members as a result. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the European Executive Committee whose support was invaluable in my time as Vice President.

“I know that I leave the region in Anne’s capable hands and look forward to seeing the region progress and grow further still under her leadership.”
