Staff Exchange Success In Sydney
DFK Richard Hill has bid a fond farewell to Nguyen Dac Long after a successful two-month staff exchange.
Nguyen arrived at the accounting, taxation and business advisory practice, based in Sydney, Australia, in September from fellow member firm DFK Vietnam.
He has been working at the firm as an assistant auditor as part of DFK International’s staff exchange programme, supporting senior auditors with their workload, developing audit plans and identifying internal control deficiencies.
He also used the experience to learn from others at the firm to enhance his professional experience and also improve his English language skills.
Nguyen said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at DFK Richard Hill in Sydney. I am always looking for ways to develop myself, and the staff exchange was a perfect way to do this.
“I learnt a lot during my time at the practice and was also able to use my experience to assist the firm with their workload.
“Although the legal systems in Australia and Vietnam are different, the audit procedures have similar characteristics so I was able to use my existing knowledge to approach the work I was asked to undertake.
“Sydney is a wonderful city and I have enjoyed learning about the culture, trying unique foods, exploring new places, and visiting some of the famous landmarks such as Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and Manly Beach.
“I have also enjoyed spending time with my work colleagues and have taken full advantage of my time in Australia, also visiting Canberra and Melbourne.
“I have now returned to my home country ready for the new audit season and hope to explore more ways I can make positive contributions to DFK International.”
DFK Vietnam has taken part in previous staff exchanges, sending a colleague to work at a DFK member firm in Texas for three months and welcoming a partner from a Korean accounting practice, who decided to remain at the firm following the secondment.
Pham the Hung, Partner at DFK Vietnam, said that the exchanges are highly beneficial for both the staff and firms taking part.
He said: “We usually send young talents abroad so that they can improve their English, working style and knowledge in an international environment.
“Those visiting our firm on staff exchanges are able to experience working in Vietnam and living in a beautiful country which benefits from good food, a cheap cost of living and friendly people.
“Staff exchanges can also benefit the individual firms. We welcomed a partner from a Korean firm in 2008 - he is now still with us 10 years later and brings in around 50 Korean clients every year.”
